Project Impacts

Short-term impacts

The direct beneficiaries of this project will be the communities in Savda Ghevra, government departments involved in the service chain for FSM and development partners who will gain from the knowledge being shared for replicability and scaling up.

Communities: The project will directly benefit 4,000 households in the resettlement colony Savda Ghevra. Approximately 20,000 people will benefit directly from this project.

Governments: The demonstration unit in Delhi makes it accessible for state and national government departments to visit, learn and replicate the project within Delhi and elsewhere in the country.

Development partners: Success of this demonstration unit (and the business model) can be adopted by other development partners working on sustainable sanitation solutions.

 

The long-term impacts 

The long-term impacts of this project can be highlighted through the following points below:

  • Enhanced quality of life though provision of environmental health and hygiene
  • A viable business model that will have future scaling up potential for citywide sanitation
  • A robust institutional model that provides an enabling environment for investments in FSM in India
  • A sustainable technical solution which can be implemented as a standalone solution or be integrated into existing sanitation systems
